Don’t prioritise sharpness, exposure and colour ahead of the capture - the most important thing in your portrait photo is your subject. These days we seem to be obsessed with buying the sharpest lenses and using the most advanced camera tech to ensure that our subjects faces (and more importantly the eyes) are crystal clear - well get this; most of the world’s most famous paintings are not sharp!

It’s about mood and feel

As I continue my journey of self-improvement in my photography, I now try to remind myself to concentrate on mood and feel - after all this is what sells photos.
